Thismorning for breakfast....

This is my breakfast...
I never do this, but...this morning for breakfast I had 1 1/2 glazed, buttermilk donuts and a half of a Take 5 candy bar with a glass of cold milk. It was SOOOO good! The glazed, buttermilk donuts remind me of my brother Rand. I remember one time when we were kids and he was babysitting, he had us all pool our money together and then he went and bought glazed, buttermilk donuts. So good. Cory mentioned the TAKE5 candy bar in one of her blogs a while ago and I have been thinking about trying it ever since. She was so right. It is sooo good.

I also recently returned from a trip to Utah for a friends wedding.
Amy and I were roommates at Utah State University many years ago and became good friends. She was sealed in the Logan Temple at 11am and then had a luncheon for family and few close friends that attended the sealing. When I first heard she wasn't having a reception, I thought it was kind of weird, but it was actually very nice. There was no stress of setting up and taking down a reception. There weren't a ton of people. The whole thing was very 'quaint' and 'intimate'. It made me think.....'hmmmmm maybe this is the way to do it.'

I was also able to spend some time with Wendy and Adele who are best friends from my childhood. I feel so blessed that I have friendships like this that have endured the years and distance between us. It's never awkward. We always just pick up visiting as if we'd never been apart. I feel like we ALL really had a unique and blessed experience back in the San Jose, 26th ward. Those are relationships that will last into the eternities. We are so blessed! (Thanks again Wendy for letting me stay with you!) Oh...by the way...Adele's little girl Zoe is the most well-mannered, polite, sweet child I have ever met! I really couldn't believe it!. I wanted to put her in my suitcase and bring her home wit me. I asked Adele what she 'did' and she said that she 'didn't do anything'. Some kids just come that way. Hopefully....someday....when I have kids, I can place an order for some like that!

Of course Utah was so green, and lush compared to the brown, prickly desert I live in. I just enjoyed being out driving and taking in the scenery. Kind of funny...the day I flew out of Phoenix to Utah President Bush also flew out of Phoenix and hour before me. Then, the day I flew out of Salt Lake to return to Phoenix, the President flew out just before me. It almost made me late to the airport. Traffic was HORRIBLE and roads were blocked everywhere, but I did manage to return my rental car on time, check my bag and get in the security line...upon which I realized that I left my cell phone in the rental car. So, I get out of the security line and run back across the street to the rental cars, running through the parking lot (my rental car place was clear in the back of course)...the guy that checked my car back in was heading my direction with my cell phone. Whew! Run back to the airport and hop back into the security line. I made it just fine! Somewhat of a stressful morning but at least I got my exercise in.

Now...back to the grind. I returnd to work the next day and found my chair like this...

I'm telling you...it never stops at my office. Never a dull moment.

Memories on Monday

I realize it's not 'Flashback Friday' but I can have 'Memories on Monday', right?
So last year I went to the White Mountains with my roommate. She loves to hunt, and since she didn't get drawn for Elk last year she wanted to go 'Elk Stalking'. So we went to her families cabin in Greer which is about 4 hours away. We got all decked out in camouflage and headed out to try to 'call in' some elk. One our drive out, she accidentally hit a squirrel and being the taxidermist she is... she went back and got the squirrel which she just threw in the back of the truck. We were able to see a few elk while we were out. I learned on this little adventurer that I could never be a hunter, simply because I don't have the patience for it. It's not fun....and I don't think I could kill things. Anyway, at the end of the night we get back to the cabin and Lesli has pulled a few things out of the truck and is trying to get the keys to the cabin out of her backpack. It's very dark outside. She says, 'Here, will you hold this?' So I reach out to take whatever it is that she needs me to hold and at the last second I see that it's the dead squirrel! I jerked my hand away so fast! I finally relented. It was a pretty funny moment. Rigamortis had set in. Poor little squirrel. I swear...I have been exposed to so many things through knowing her that I would never have ever experienced in my life time otherwise. People sure make life interesting.

I LOVE YOGA!

Benefits of Yoga
*Increase flexibility
*Increase lubrication of the joints, ligaments, and tendons.
*Massaging of all organs of the body
*Complete detoxification
*Excellent toning of muscles

I love yoga. I used to go to a yoga class at my old gym and I loved it. It feels so good to stretch. Somehow I feel taller when I do yoga and I can feel that my blood is circulating more. The gym that I go to currently only offers a class called 'Body Flow', which is a combination of Tai Chi, Yoga, and Pilates. I've done it once or twice but I don't love it like I love the YOGA. Ya know, I called a place called, Dahn Yoga to find out how much it would cost. Over $400 per month! I couldn't believe it. If I could motivate myself to do Yoga alone in my living room....it's just not the same though. I wish we could all get together and YOGA!

What more could a duck want?!

Last weekend I took Dudley over to my sister and brother in-law's house to swim in their pool. I thought it would be nice for him to have all of that room and depth that he could dive and I thought the kids would enjoy swimming with a duck. It wasn't quite as I imagined it would be. First of all, the car ride over made Dudley very nervous and just as I pulled into the driveway at their house he decided to throw up all over my car. I'm not talking in just one small location, he shook his head and it splattered all over. That was great. Poor Dudley. Anyhoo, he hopped right in the pool but as soon as the kids hopped in with him, he was through! He's not used to being around so many people, especially screaming, splashing children. He wanted no part of it. He spent most of his time outside the pool and staying close to me, but we did manage to get him to float around a bit. We'll have to try it again some day. I think he'd like it if he got used to it.

Happy Birthday to my cute little nephew, Bradley!

Happy Mothers' Day and Happy Birthday! (Sunday)

Happy Mothers Day to all of you moms out there and to my own mother.
I love you Mom!
"As a rule the mothers in Zion, the mothers of Israel, are the very best women that live in the world, the best that can be found anywhere...The good influence that a good mother exercises over her children is like leaven cast into the measure of meal, that will leaven the whole lump; and as far as her influence extends, not only to her own children, but to the associates of her children, it is felt, and good is the result accomplished by it.
And, sisters, you do not know how far your influence extends. A mother that is successful in raising a good boy, or girl, to imitate her example and to follow her precepts through life, sows the seeds of virtue, honor and integrity and of rigtheousness in their hearts that will be felt through all their career in life; and wherever that boy or girls goes, as man or woman, in whatever society they mingle, the good effects of the example of that mother upon them will be felt; and it will never die, because it will extend from them to their children from generation to generation. Especially do we hope for this in the gospel of Jesus Christ."
